Top Ten Tips for Wrapping Your Gifts!
You've finally found that perfect present...but have you thought about the gift wrap?
For so many of us, what can really make a gift special is beautiful gift wrap! A cute gift bag, layers of tissue and ribbon, or a sweet gift tag can make all the difference!
When it comes to gift-wrapping, people tend to either:
(a) love it! Their gifts are always immaculately wrapped and look gorgeous with lots of ribbons and bows
OR
(b) hate it! They get more sellotape wrapped around their fingers than on the parcel, and ribbon just doesn't agree with them (how do you get it curly??)
(1) THE GREAT GIFT BAG!
Never underestimate the great gift bag! If you're short of time, or have an awkward shaped present, or maybe just lots of smaller gift items that would take forever to wrap individually, then the gift bag is the answer!
They come in various shapes, sizes, colours and designs, and are the easy way to make sure your gift is beautifully presented with minimal effort. So much better than a plastic carrier bag!

(2) GLAM UP THE GIFT BAG!
For those of you that want to make your gift wrapping a little more luxurious, then you can also think of the gift bag as a base product. Simply packing the bag with some gorgeous coloured tissue paper (maybe in a couple of contrasting colours), tying and curling some pretty ribbon around the bag's handles, and adding a personal gift tag can really give your gift-wrapping the 'wow' factor! For an extra touch of luxury, you could also individually wrap your gift before you pop it in the gift bag.
(3) GIFT BOXES
An alternative to the gift bag, gift boxes can be used much in the same way, and are especially ideal for heavier products. Again, gift boxes come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours and designs. A real essential with gift boxes is tissue paper - make sure you pack the box with layers of crumpled or shredded tissue, so that your gift is luxuriously surrounded!
(4) LUXURIOUS GIFT BOXES!
Again, for those of you who want to be a little more creative and adventurous with your gift wrap, the gift box can also be glammed up with just a few more touches!
Using tissue paper, layered or shredded, inside the box is pretty much essential (or, as an alternative, you could try fabric, confetti or scented petals), but to add to this you could pop the lid on the box and then wrap it with gorgeous ribbon or pop a bow on top. Finish with a sweet gift tag. You could even layer a couple of different coloured ribbons, or use decorative silk flowers instead of a bow.
(5) CELLOPHANE
To add another layer of luxury to your gift wrap, another idea is to use cellophane. You can buy either clear or patterned examples and, if you finish off with loads of gorgeous ribbon, this can be a fantastic way to create a really stunningly wrapped gift!
(6) GIFT TAGS
Adding a gift tag to your present really makes all the difference in giving it that personal touch. It gives you the chance to add a little personal message for the recipient, which can really make the gift that much more special. You could use a gift tag that matches your gift wrap or, for a bit more interest, think about a contrasting tag that will stand out from the gift. You could even easily make your own, in any shape that you like, for example heart or star shaped, with some stiff coloured card. Use double sided tape or thread or ribbon to attach to your gift.

(7) RIBBON
Some people find it difficult to use, but if you can master the art of ribbon then this will make a fantastic difference to all your gift wrapping! You can choose from a wide range of styles, such as cotton, chiffon, metallic or organza, and various colours and designs. Think about mixing and matching your ribbon to create a unique effect, for example when tying a parcel use a broad ribbon as a base, and then a narrower ribbon in a contrasting colour on top. And don't forget to finish it off in a big bow or, if you're using ribbon suitable for curling, hold the lengths taut and run your scissor edge along it to get a fabulous curl effect!

(8) BOWS, BOWS, BOWS!
If you still stuggle with ribbon, then don't despair! The solution is the self-adhesive bow!. Available in a wide range of shapes, sizes, and colours, simply peel off the self-adhesive label, stick on your wrapped present, gift bag or gift box, and your gift is immediately transformed into something special!
(9) CREATIVE TOUCHES
If you have a creative streak and love arts and crafts, then don't be afraid to experiment with your own individual gift-wrap ideas! A few ideas include:
- make your own gift bags and decorate with interesting items such as silk flowers or pieces of fabric or lace
- fill gifts bags/boxes with scented petals or confetti for a luxurious touch
- make your own wrapping paper with stencils or stamps
- use pretty fabric as an alternative to wrapping paper
- for small gifts, print treasured photos onto plain paper and use as personalised gift wrap.
