Top Ten Tips for Choosing Wallpaper
When choosing wallpaper:
1) DON'T BE AFRAID!
When choosing your wallpaper, don't be afraid to opt for a bold or colourful design. Using wallpaper on just one feature wall is the best way to incorporate a bold design into your scheme with being too overpowering.
2) CONSIDER ROOM PROPORTIONS
Consider room size and ceiling height when choosing patterned wallpaper. Large scale bold patterns are fantastic for big rooms with high ceilings, as they won't get lost in the room size. Smaller or more delicate patterns better suit the proportions of a small room.
3) PERIOD PROPERTIES WITH A TWIST
Even if you're decorating a more traditional or period property, don't rule out contemporary wallpaper companies. Some have classical design wallpapers that would suit these type of properties, but with a twist! For example, they may have a shimmery or metallic finish or use a classic, traditional design but in contemporary colours.
4) VINYL??...YES, REALLY!

An absolute essential when considering wallpapers is to gather samples of all the papers you're interested in. Most companies and stores will provide wallpaper samples free of charge. Make the most of this facility so that you can really see the colours and textures in your own home. Most importantly, make sure you hold the samples against the wall they will hang on, as different lighting can affect how the colours are perceived.
6) THE IMPORTANCE OF COLOURS
When deciding on wallpaper colour(s), a really important factor to take into account is the natural light in your room. If you have the luxury of a well lit, bright room then you can choose pretty much anything you like. However, for darker rooms that lack much natural light, it is best to opt for something fresh and light, as choosing a dark colour will draw the room in even more.
7) PRICE
When you're choosing your wallpaper, unless you're really lucky, you will probably have a budget to stick to.
